Colorado Solar Sales & Use Tax Exemption

The great state of Colorado allows solar power owners to be exempt from sales tax for both the purchase of the solar panel system and the use of the solar energy or any of its components.

Federal solar tax credit.

With the federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC), you can be reimbursed for up to 30% of the cost of your solar panel system.

Property tax exemption for residential renewable energy equipment

In Colorado, homeowners who are located in a residential classified property area and produce energy used by the residential property are exempt from Colorado property taxation.
